Newly certified firefighters and EMTs often face a variety of challenges “breaking into” a new paid or volunteer position within an organization.  The transition from student to responder is at best challenging, and at times overwhelming.  Facing the realities of emergency response can sometimes even be underwhelming.  Finding one’s place within an organization, and within a local emergency response system, can at times seem daunting.  It can be tough to figure out how to build upon the excitement and growth that occurred within the initial certification program.  All of these things make it easy to fall into a rut, or even worse, to fall out of the organization/system all together.  The good news is that this doesn’t have to be the case!  This 2 hour course, delivered as a virtual instructor led webinar, is designed to provide guidance and encouragement to both newer emergency responders, and the veteran responders that might be involved in mentoring them.  We will look at ways to stay engaged, stay motivated, promote lifelong learning, and ultimately become more than just a number on our organization’s roster.

The course instructor is Brian Potter, and there is no cost to attend.  The course is being submitted to the WVOEMS for CE approval for EMS providers.  To register for the webinar click here.  Please contact brian.potter@wvesc.org with any questions regarding the course.  An invite to the Microsoft Teams meeting will be sent out a day or two prior to the webinar date to those that have registered.
