WV Public Service Training will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician course at Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Authority (LEASA) beginning March 3, 2020 at 5:00 pm. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

This 155 hour course covers the basic information needed to function as an EMT level pre-hospital provider. Successful completion of the course will allow the student to be considered eligible to take the certifying exams.

This course also requires a clinical component to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be completed prior to being approved to take the NREMT exam once the course is completed. You will receive more information on the clinical component during the class.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam, with the initial exam attempt, as mentioned above, being included within the course tuition.  This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certification in a state other than WV, you will not need to complete the WV certification process/fees, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process in your desired state.

Absence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at the discretion of the course instructor.

Fee:  FREE to WV residents from a grant through the Jobs & Hope WV
