The 120-hour Fire Fighter 1 class meets NFPA 1001, 2019 edition. The class includes NFPA 1001 2019 FF 1 Standard, HazMat Awareness/Operations, and First Aid/CPR. Successful completion of this class provides the minimum requirements by the WV State Fire Commission to respond to fire calls.
WVPST Beckley will be offering an online fire fighter 1 course with hazardous materials awareness/operations. The course will use Jones and Bartlett interactive for the online firefighting course.
The cost of the course is $235 per student which includes tuition, textbook and online access code.
Practical dates for the course have not been set, but dates will be discussed at the mandatory interest meeting. Attendance will be mandatory for all practical skills days for completion of the class.

A mandatory orientation session will be held at Rupert VFD at 6:00 pm on May 21, 2024. This is when students will receive the information for the course. Payment is due in full at the mandatory sign up session on May 21, 2024. Bring a check for $235 per student, made payable to SESC. No class materials will be issued without payment in full. Please bring a laptop or tablet if you have one available.
There will be an additional fee after the student has completed the live burn training.
Class size is limited and you must pre-register using the form below. This class is subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment numbers are not met.
