Water Rescue Awareness/Operations
A Water Rescue Awareness/Operations Course (34 hours) will be held at the Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department in Randolph County August 15, 17, 18, 20, & 29, 2026. Class will meet 7am – 5pm on weekend dates and 5pm – 9pm on weekday dates. Justin George is the lead instructor. This class meets the JPRs for NFPA 1006, as well as the requirements for IFSAC certification. Students will be required to complete a swim test to participate in the class. Students should come “water ready” to each class session. PPE should include helmet, PFD with integrated quick release, whistle, water knife, and skin protective clothing appropriate for water (wet suit, dry suit, or swimwear shorts and t-shirt depending on temperatures for each class session).
Course pre-requisites are Rope Rescue awareness and operations or Rescue Core and Rope Rescue Level 1.
Course tuition is $120 per student. The course textbook will be available at a cost of $85, although is not required until the Technician level course.
