WVPST offers IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) Testing to provide West Virginia Firefighters with National Certification.  IFSAC Testing provides a uniform means for judging and ranking personnel which is fair and equitable; to serve as a guideline for acceptable levels of performance; and to be equally applicable to both paid and volunteer firefighters.

The written testing for Firefighter I is on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm and the practical skills evaluations are on Saturday, May 18 beginning at 9:00 am at Martinsburg Fire Department, Martinsburg, WV.

Testing is based on NFPA 1001 2013 Standard for Level 1 Fire Fighter.

Prerequisites include Firefighter I, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Operations.  Copies of certificates validating prerequisite training are required.

Successful completion of the examination earns the candidate IFSAC certification in Fire Fighter I, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Operations

The examination is composed of written tests including Fire Fighter 1, (100 questions); Hazardous Materials Awareness (25 questions); Hazardous Materials Operations (50 questions), and practical skills demonstrations.  Participants should bring full turnout gear and SCBA.

Those wishing to take the examination can request skills sheets to study.

Pre-registration is required.  Applications will be accepted on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and must be received by May 10, 2019. Click here for an application for IFSAC FF I Testing

Testing will be cancelled if minimum number of applicants is not met.

The fee is $25.00 per certification (total for all 3 certifications is $75.00, which is non-refundable)
