This 155-hour course is being conducted at the Evansville Community Building (Preston County), located at 44 Buffalo Lane, Thornton, WV. Class meets Tuesdays and Fridays from 6pm-10pm each evening, beginning Tuesday September 3, 2019. There will also be some Saturday classes running from 8am – 4pm. A few additional hours will be required throughout class, but these will be worked out between the instructor and students once class starts. Class dates are September6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 28; October 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 26, 29; November 1, 5, 8, 9, 12, 15, 19, 22, 23; December 3, 6. The course instructor is Tasha Hamilton.
Fees for this class will be covered by a grant from the WV Department of Education.
The course also requires a clinical component to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be completed prior to being approved to take the NREMT exam once the course is completed. You will receive more information on the clinical component during the class.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam, with the initial exam attempt, as mentioned above, being included within the course tuition. This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center. If seeking certification in a state other than WV, you will not need to complete the WV certification process/fees, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process in your desired state.
Pre- registration for this class is required. Class is limited to 25 students. Absence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at the discretion of the course instructor.
