Class Dates: August 14 and 15, 2021
Class times: 9:00 am till 5:00 pm each day.
New Manchester VFD will be providing lunch both days.
Hot Fire Equipment will be providing tools for the class.
Day 1 Saturday:
Will start in the classroom covering facts and stats about school bus emergencies and accidents. Topics covered: different types of school busses on the road every day, different fuel types and the hazards associated with each type, different emergency exit points and how they function, different types of restraint systems possibly found in/on a school bus. We will discuss the importance of understanding the difference between stabilizing a school bus vs. your standard everyday car.
We will move to the bus location. There will be a safety briefing and an explanation about all tools available and how they operate etc. The rest of the day will cover safe window removal, seat removal, side wall openings, as well as some driver disentanglement situations.
Day Two Sunday:
The first half of the day will consist of scenario-based rescues with the school bus upright and on its wheels. Will cover some more enlargements of emergency exits and doors. Second half of the day the bus will be placed on its side. Then it will be a Scenario based rescue for the students to package and remove victims from the overturned school bus.
