Basic Firefighter Academy
The academy includes Firefighter 1, HazMat Awareness/Operations, First Aid/CPR, Firefighter 2, Rescue Core Prerequisites, and Vehicle & Machinery Rescue Level 1. The first class is Wednesday, October 23, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Berkeley Springs VFD. The class will meet evenings 6 to 10 pm and weekends from 8 am to 5 pm with the exact schedule to be determined by the instructor and participants. The Firefighter 1 and 2 training is combined into a joint class. Other components of the class will be taught separately and will be open to others not enrolled in the full set of classes. As these classes are scheduled the dates will be posted on the WVPST website. All components of this academy are open to Junior Firefighters with a properly completed Permission Form. Academy will be cancelled if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Marshall Younker is the instructor. Course Fees: $90 FF 1 and FF 2, $45 Rescue Core, $35 Vehicle Rescue 1. FF book is $70. A $50 supply fee may be charged. Rescue books can be used in class for a $10 rental fee, or can be purchased. IFSAC testing offered – $25 each for FF 1, HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations, and FF 2.
