Emergency Care of the Spine Injured Football Player

As the fall sports season will soon be underway, many EMS providers will be placed in roles providing standby football practice and game coverage. This class prepares EMS providers, athletic trainers, and other healthcare providers for the unique aspects of taking care of a potential or actual spine injured football player. Emergency airway access, proper techniques for removal of football equipment, and working within the sports medicine team model will all be covered through both lecture and hands on skills practice. This class is open to any healthcare provider that may be involved in responding to this type of athletic emergency. Lead Instructor will be Brian Potter, MS, ATC, NREMT. Class is being held in collaboration with WV Wesleyan School of Exercise Science and Athletic Training.
Class will be held at the City of Buckhannon Public Safety Complex classroom, Buckhannon, WV (Upshur).
