Basic Tracking for Search and Rescue
The West Virginia Emergency Management Division will be conducting a Basic Tracking for Search and Rescue class in Buckhannon WV in November, 2026.
Location: 24 South Florida Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201

Course Dates: November 21, 22, 2026 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Course Description: Basic Man-Tracking for Search and Rescue. This 16-hour course teaches the fundamental skills to locate missing persons by finding and interpreting tracks and other signs left behind in a wilderness environment. These courses combine classroom instruction with hands-on fieldwork to cover topics like visual tracking, clue interpretation, land navigation, and tracking tactics for both day and night conditions. The objective is to train personnel to function as an effective member of a search and rescue tracking team.
There will be a limit of 20 students for this class.
