Class meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5pm-9pm each evening, beginning Tuesday January 8, 2019.  Class dates are January 8, 10, 14, 15, 17, 22, 24, 28, 29, 31; February 4, 5, 7, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 28; March 4, 5, 7, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 28; April 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 18.  The course instructor is Randy Corbin.

The tuition fee of $300 (money order or check payable to MSESC) is payable prior to, or at the latest, by the 4th class session to the instructor and is nonrefundable. The textbook (AAOS, Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 11th ed. ISBN is 9781284080179) will be available at the first class session from the instructor for $110 (must be paid in order to take a book) or you can purchase/borrow one on your own. If you purchase/borrow your own, make sure to get the most current edition as there were curriculum changes in the last few years.

The course also requires a clinical component to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be completed prior to your written and practical testing once the course is completed. You will receive more information on the clinical component during the class.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam, which is an additional cost of $80.  This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certification in a state other than WV, you will not need to complete the WV certification process/fees, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process in your desired state.

If seeking certification in West Virginia at the conclusion of the course, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online, and a $45 fee for fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will receive directions on that process during the class.

Pre- registration for this class is required. Class is limited to 25 students.  Absence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at the discretion of the instructor.
