SUMMARY:Sudden Death in Sports: Causes and Collaboration in Response
DESCRIPTION:Course Description: Sudden death during sporting events has bee
 n well documented over the past several decades.  Damar Hamlin's sudden c
 ardiac arrest on an NFL field-of-play in January 2023 drew renewed nationw
 ide attention to the possibility of these types of incidents occurring amo
 ng a young\, healthy population.  Anytime an incident of this nature occu
 rs at a sporting venue\, a coordinated response among sports medicine staf
 f and emergency responders is critical to giving the patient the best chan
 ce of survival.  This 3 hour virtual instructor led class will look at th
 e most common causes of sudden death in sports\, prevention strategies\, a
 nd emergency planning priorities so that the EMS community care be at the 
 forefront of ensuring safety at athletic venues across the state.\n\nCours
 e Date and Time: August 7\, 2025 9am - 12pm\n\nCourse has been submitted 
 for WVOEMS CE approval and has been previously approved by them for EMS pr
