SUMMARY:Recognizing and Preventing the Flashover
DESCRIPTION:Recognizing and Preventing the Flashover\nThis is a two-day cla
 ss designed to demonstrate to firefighters the phenomenon of “flashover
 ”. This dangerous and deadly condition can be predicted with the correct
  training. The class begins Friday evening with a classroom session which 
 explains flashover signs and signals. This session lasts approximately two
  hours.\n\nFollowing the classroom session\, on Saturday students will ent
 er the flashover chamber where they will be exposed to several actual flas
 hover conditions in a controlled environment. Students will learn how to a
 nticipate flashover by carefully observing conditions. Students will be ta
 ught techniques to control the flashover situation.  This is a hands-on c
 lass in which the students will be subjected to high heat conditions and h
 ostile fire conditions.  Each student must bring their own self-contained
  breathing apparatus with spare cylinder\, and turnout gear to include the
  following: • SCBA • Bunker pants • Bunker coat • Protective hood 
 • Approved gloves •  Limit of 20 students.\n\nCost of the course is $

 ov. 6\, 2021 9 am to 5 pm\n\nLead Instructor Joe Bennett\n\nPrerequisites:
  18 years of age and Fire Fighter 1\n\nStudents must be clean shaven to we
 ar the required SCBA. Students should also be in good physical condition a
 nd capable of operating in extreme heat while wearing full turnout gear an
 d SCBA.
