DESCRIPTION:Rapid Intervention Team course will be held at Shepherdstown VF
 D. The lead instructors will be Jason Hoover and Bob Faas with a multitude
  of assisting instructors throughout the course. The dates will be Friday 
 evening June 3 at 6pm\, Saturday June 4 at 8am \, and Sunday June 5 at 8am
 .\n\nFirefighting is dangerous as well as physically and mentally challeng
 ing. Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations are
  the highest priority when a firefighter is lost\, disoriented\, or trappe
 d. Firefighter survival and RIT training programs teach self survival and 
 safe extrication of a downed firefighter who may be injured\, trapped or l
 ost at an emergency scene.\n\nRapid intervention teams and practical appli
 cations aimed at locating a firefighter using the PASS device and removing
  him/her from a hostile environment. Skills taught include corridor search
 \, large area search\, SCBA harness conversion\, proper use of the RIT Pac
 k\, one and two person drags\, firefighter removal up or down a staircase\
 , removal out a window utilizing various carries and ropes\, as well as la
 dder assisted lifts from a basement.\n\nThis course is physically demandin
 g and requires all students to demonstrate all skills taught in the progra
 m. Participants may be removed from skills rotations if they cannot physic
 ally complete tasks.\n\nFull PPE is required and a complete SCBA with two 
 bottles.\n\nStudents are required to bring NFPA Compliant Protective Cloth
 ing consisting of helmet\, hood\, coat\, gloves\, bunker pants\, and boots
