SUMMARY:Prehospital Management of Heat Illness: Are We Providing Evidenced 
 Based Treatment?
DESCRIPTION:Hot summer days\, industrial settings\, sporting events\, and f
 ire ground standby all present potential opportunities for the emergency m
 edical services (EMS) provider to encounter patients suffering from heat i
 llness.  Heat stroke especially\, is a true medical emergency that untrea
 ted or treated incorrectly leads to death.  The good news is that when tr
 eated rapidly and appropriately\, heat stroke is 100% survivable.  Despit
 e this fact\, many EMS protocols do not reflect current evidence based tre
 atment for heat stroke.  This 1 to 1 ½ hour course will include a review
  of various types of heat illness\, differentiation between heat exhaustio
 n and heat stroke via clinical exam and rectal thermometry\, appropriate h
 eat illness treatment including cold water immersion\, and recommendations
  for heat illness prevention.  The course was previously presented at ESC
 APe 2020.\n\nThis 1 1/2 hour continuing education course for EMS providers
  is being offered as an interactive webinar on April 15\, 2020\, starting 
 at 10:00am.  Brian Potter\, MS\, ATC\, NREMT is the instructor.\n\nPartic
 ipants should register by entering the requested information below\, and a
 ll registrants will receive an invite/web link to access the webinar prior
  to the day of the course.  Participants will receive a WVDE certificate
