DESCRIPTION:Managing the Volunteer Fire Department\n\nNOTE:  Public Servic
 e Training is currently not starting any new classes because of the corona
 virus pandemic. No one knows when that moratorium on new classes may be li
 fted. The Managing the Volunteer Fire Department class at Moorefield VFC s
 cheduled for April 4 has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later 
 date to be determined.\n\nAn 8-hour class\, Managing the Volunteer Fire De
 partment\, will be presented at the Moorefield VFC Bingo Hall on Saturday 
 April 4\, 2020 from 9 am to 5 pm.  Preregistration is not required.\n\nTh
 ere are many aspects to managing a Volunteer Fire Department. Some best pr
 actices are a matter of choice\, but there are many legal requirements. Th
 e reality is that fire officers\, VFD board members\, and other members of
  VFDs are being arrested\, sued\, and brought before regulatory agencies t
 o answer for not following legally required procedures. How can you best m
 anage a VFD to not only provide the best service to the community\, but al
 so to ensure meeting all legal requirements? This training will clearly ex
 plain the legally required procedures and share best practices. VFD board 
 members\, fire officers\, and anyone involved in any way with the manageme
 nt of a Volunteer Fire Department in West Virginia are strongly encouraged
  to attend this training. The instructor for this class is Steve Connolly\
 , General Counsel\, Deputy State Auditor &amp\; Director of the Public Int
 egrity &amp\; Fraud Unit West Virginia State Auditor’s Office. Steve has
  served as the General Counsel for the WV State Fire Commission. He has al
 so served his community as a Volunteer Fire Fighter\, Fire Instructor\, an
 d has taught many classes explaining legal aspects of the volunteer fire s
 ervice. This training is provided at no charge courtesy of the WV State Au
