SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Parsons VFD
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted in Tucker
  County\, with class sessions being held primarily at Parsons VFD\, with s
 ome sessions at Canaan Valley VFD.  The course will begin on Monday\, Oct
 ober 2\, 2023 at 6:00pm.  Class will meet on the following dates: October
  2\, 3\, 11\, 12\, 18\, 19\, 23\, 25\, 30\; November 1\, 6\, 7\, 8\, 14\, 
 15\, 28\; December 4\, 5\, 11\, 12\, 13\, 20\, 21\, 2023\; January 8\, 9\,
  16\, 17\, 18\, 23\, 25\, 30\; February 1\, 5\, 6\, 12\, 13\, 21\, 22\, 26
 \, 28\; and March 4\, 2024.  Class times will be 6pm - 1ompm each session
  unless directed otherwise by the course instructor.  The lead instructor
  for the course is Josh Tompkins.  Students MUST bring a laptop or tablet
  to the first class session on October 2\, 2023.  Students must have acce
 ss to a computer outside of the classroom\, reliable internet\, and be sel
 f motivated to complete assignments and spend time studying outside of for
 mal class hours.\n\n The course requires a clinical component to be compl
 eted outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS a
 gency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be comple
 ted in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will receive more
  information on the clinical component during the class.\n\nUpon successfu
 l completion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit for the National 
 Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt being included withi
 n the course tuition.  This test will be scheduled at your convenience at
  a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certification in a state other
  than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV certification process/fees
 \, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination be
 fore proceeding with the certification process in your desired state.\n\nP
 re- registration for this class is required.  Absence allowance is 10% of
  the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at th
 e discretion of the course instructor.\n\nCourse fee is $650 and includes:
  tuition\, textbook\, access to EMS testing program\, and 1st attempt NREM
 T exam voucher (upon successful completion of course requirements).  Stat
 e of WV licensing fees are separate and are the responsibility of the stud
 ent if seeking WV certification.  Course fees\, or an authorization to in
