SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Monongalia EMS
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at Monong
 alia EMS in Morgantown\, WV (Monongalia County) beginning Monday\, August 
 16\, 2021 at 9:00am.  Class will meet Mondays\, Wednesdays\, and Fridays 
 from 9am-5pm.  The course instructor is Chris Battlo.  Students must hav
 e access to a computer\, reliable internet\, and be self motivated to comp
 lete assignments and put in time studying outside of normal class hours.\n
 \nThe course textbook with Navigate online access\, first NREMT testing fe
 e\, and FISDAP entrance and exit exam costs will all be covered for this c
 lass through a grant through the WV Jobs and Hope program.  Tuition costs
  for this course are being covered by Monongalia EMS\, so there is no cost
  to the student (WV Residents only) for class.  Students will still be re
 sponsible for WV State Certification fees.\n\nThe course also requires a c
 linical component to be completed outside of class hours during which you 
 will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. The
 se assessments must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an
  EMT.  You will receive more information on the clinical component during
  the class.\n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be elig
 ible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam
  attempt\, as mentioned above\, being included.  This test will be schedu
 led at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking cert
 ification in a state other than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV 
 certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pass practical testin
 g and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process i
 n your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virginia at the 
 conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 
 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for fingerprint
 ing/criminal background check. You will receive directions on that process
  during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is required.   Abs
 ence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of miss
 ed classes will be at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterest
