SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Monongah VFD
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at Monong
 ah VFD in Monongah\, WV (Marion County) beginning Tuesday\, September 7\, 
 2021 at 5:00pm.  After the first session\, class will meet on Monday and 
 Wednesday evenings from 5pm - 9pm.  The class will finish up around 1/19/
 2022.  The course instructor will be Randy Corbin.  Students must have a
 ccess to a computer\, reliable internet\, and be self motivated to complet
 e assignments and spend time studying outside normal class hours.\n\nThe t
 extbook\, first NREMT testing fee\, and FISDAP entrance and exit exam fees
  will all be covered for this class through a grant through the WV Jobs an
 d Hope program (WV Residents only).  The student will be responsible for 
 class tuition fee of $300 (due by 4th class session).  Student will also 
 be responsible for WV State Certification fees which are separate from WVP
 ST course costs.\n\nThe course also requires a clinical component to be co
 mpleted outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EM
 S agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be com
 pleted in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will receive m
 ore information on the clinical component during the class.\n\nUpon succes
 sful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit for the Nation
 al Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, as mentioned ab
 ove\, being included within the course tuition.  This test will be schedu
 led at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking cert
 ification in a state other than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV 
 certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pass practical testin
 g and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process i
 n your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virginia at the 
 conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 
 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for fingerprint
 ing/criminal background check. You will receive directions on that process
  during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is required. Due to
  COVID 19 safety best practices\, face masks will be required for all clas
 ses\, and class size is limited to 15 students.  Absence allowance is 10%
  of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at
  the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterested persons should reg
