SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Lewis County EMS
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at Lewis 
 County EMS in Weston\, WV (Lewis County) beginning Thursday\, August 26\, 
 2021 at 6:00pm.  Class will meet 6pm-10pm every Tuesday and Thursday\, wi
 th some Saturdays mixed in.  Saturday classes will be scheduled by instru
 ctor/students once class gets underway.  The course instructor is TJ Sirb
 augh.  Students must have access to a computer\, reliable internet\, and 
 be self motivated to complete assignments and spend time studying outside 
 of formal class hours.\n\nThe textbook\, first NREMT testing fee and FISDA
 P entrance and exit exam fees will all be covered for this class through a
  grant through the WV Jobs and Hope program (WV Residents only).  The stu
 dent will be responsible for class tuition fee of $300 (due by 4th class s
 ession).  Student will also be responsible for WV State Certification fee
 s which are separate from WVPST course costs.\n\nThe course also requires 
 a clinical component to be completed outside of class hours during which y
 ou will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. 
 These assessments must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as
  an EMT.  You will receive more information on the clinical component dur
 ing the class.\n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be e
 ligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial e
 xam attempt\, as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuitio
 n.  This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue test
 ing center.  If seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will
  not need to complete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply 
 need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding wit
 h the certification process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certifica
 tion in West Virginia at the conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia 
 Office of EMS requires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online\, 
 and a $45 fee for fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will recei
 ve directions on that process during the class.\n\nPre- registration for t
 his class is required. with class size being limited to 15 students.  Abs
 ence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of miss
 ed classes will be at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterest
 ed persons should register below by filling in the appropriate information
