SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Lewis County EMS
DESCRIPTION:Due to the amount of interest generated by our first EMT class 
 in Lewis County\, we are offering a second class option there.  This 155-
 hour course is being conducted at Lewis County EMS in Weston\, WV (Lewis C
 ounty) beginning Wednesday\, September 30\, 2020 at 6:00pm.  Class dates 
 are as follows: September 30\; October 3\, 5\, 12\, 14\, 19\, 21\, 26\, 28
 \, 31\; November 2\, 7\, 9\, 14\, 16\, 18\, 23\, 30\; December 2\, 7\, 14\
 , 16\, 21\, 28\, 30\; and January 4\, 6\, 9\, 11\, 13\, 18\, 20.  Weeknig
 ht classes will be 6pm - 10pm\, and Saturday classes will be 8am - 5pm.  
 The course instructors are TJ Sirbaugh and Zach Chancey.\n\nThe tuition fe
 e\, first NREMT testing fee\, and textbook for this class will be covered 
 by Jobs and Hope.  There is no cost to the student (WV Residents only) fo
 r tuition\,  first NREMT testing or book.  Student will be responsible f
 or WV State Certification fees.\n\nThe course also requires a clinical com
 ponent to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride a
 long with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessme
 nts must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You
  will receive more information on the clinical component during the class.
 \n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit
  for the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, 
 as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This test
  will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  
 If seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will not need to c
 omplete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pass p
 ractical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certific
 ation process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West V
 irginia at the conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS 
 requires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee 
 for fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will receive directions 
 on that process during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is r
 equired. Due to COVID 19 safety best practices\, face masks will be requir
 ed for all classes\, and class size is limited to 12 students.  Absence a
 llowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed cla
 sses will be at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nAll students m
 ust have a computer or tablet\, and access to reliable internet.\n\nIntere
