SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Grafton
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted in Grafto
 n\, WV (Taylor County) beginning Tuesday\, March 2\, 2021 at 6:00pm.  Cla
 ss will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-10pm\, with the possi
 bility of a few Saturday sessions upon agreement of instructor and student
 s.  The class location will be the Horizons Church at 116 St. John's St.\
 , Grafton\, WV 26354.  The course instructor is Chris Battlo.  Students 
 must have access to a computer\, reliable internet\, and be self motivated
  to complete assignments\, as the current COVID 19 pandemic could result i
 n portions of the course being done in an online format.\n\nThe tuition fe
 e\, first NREMT testing fee and book will be covered for this class throug
 h a grant through the WV Jobs and Hope program.  There is no cost to the 
 student (WV Residents only) for tuition\,  first NREMT testing fee\, or b
 ook.  Student will still be responsible for WV State Certification fees.\
 n\nThe course also requires a clinical component to be completed outside o
 f class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS agency to compl
 ete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be completed in order t
 o obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will receive more information o
 n the clinical component during the class.\n\nUpon successful completion o
 f the course\, you will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EM
 Ts exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, as mentioned above\, being inclu
 ded within the course tuition.  This test will be scheduled at your conve
 nience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certification in a st
 ate other than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV certification pro
 cess/fees\, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT exami
 nation before proceeding with the certification process in your desired st
 ate.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virginia at the conclusion of the
  course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 fee for certifica
 tion which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for fingerprinting/criminal back
 ground check. You will receive directions on that process during the class
 .\n\nPre- registration for this class is required. Due to COVID 19 safety 
 best practices\, face masks will be required for all classes\, and class s
 ize is limited to 15 students.  Absence allowance is 10% of the total cla
 ss hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be at the discretion o
 f the course instructor.\n\nInterested persons should register below by fi
 lling in the appropriate information.  Those students preregistered will 
 receive an email with exact course location prior to the first class meeti
