BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//wp-events-plugin.com//7.2.3.1//EN TZID:America/New_York X-WR-TIMEZONE:America/New_York BEGIN:VEVENT UID:1938@wvpst.org DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20220118T180000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20220118T220000 DTSTAMP:20220107T150534Z URL:https://wvpst.org/events/emt-initial-clarksburg-3/ SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Clarksburg DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at United Technical Center in Clarksburg\, WV (Harrison County) beginning Tuesday\, January 18\, 2022 at 6:00pm.  Class dates are January 18\, 19\, 20\, 24\ , 26\, 27\, 28\, 31\; February 2\, 7\, 9\, 15\, 16\, 22\, 23\, 24\, 28\, 3 0\, 31\; March 1\, 3\, 4\, 8\, 14\, 15\, 17\, 21\, 22\, 23\, 24\, 28\, 30\ , 31\; April 4\, 6\, 11\, 13\, 18\, and 19.  Weekday classes will meet 6- 10pm and weekend classes will meet 8am-5pm.  The course instructor is Jos h Tompkins.  Students must have access to a computer\, reliable internet\ , and be self motivated to complete assignments and spend time studying ou tside of formal class hours.\n\nThe student will be responsible for paymen t of class tuition and fees of $575 by the 4th class session or must bring proof of authorization to invoice a department (form for this will be ava ilable at first session).  Tuition and fees covers the textbook\, Navigat e learning management system access\, pocket mask\, CPR certification\, te st voucher for 1st attempt at NREMT exam\, and access to the EMS Testing o nline program.  Student will also be responsible for WV State Certificati on fees which are separate from\, and outside of the control of\, WVPST co urse costs.  \n\nThe course requires a clinical component to be complete d outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS agen cy to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will receive more in formation on the clinical component during the class.\n\nUpon successful c ompletion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit for the National Reg istry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certificat ion in a state other than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV certif ication process/fees\, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virginia at the conclu sion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 fee fo r certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for fingerprinting/cr iminal background check. You will receive directions on that process durin g the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is required. with class s ize being limited to 15 students.  Absence allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours.
