SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Bunners Ridge VFD
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at Bunner
 s Ridge VFD in Fairmont\, WV (Marion County) beginning Monday\, January 11
 \, 2021 at 5:00pm.  Class will meet Monday\, Tuesday\, and Thursday eveni
 ng from 5pm - 9pm until finished up approximately 3/30/2021.  The course 
 instructor is Randy Corbin.  Students must have access to a computer\, re
 liable internet\, and be self motivated to complete assignments\, as the c
 urrent COVID 19 pandemic could result in portions of the course being done
  in an online format.\n\nThe tuition fee\, first NREMT testing fee and boo
 k will be covered for this class through a grant through the WV Jobs and H
 ope program.  There is no cost to the student (WV Residents only) for tui
 tion\,  first NREMT testing fee\, or book.  Student will be responsible 
 for WV State Certification fees.\n\nThe course also requires a clinical co
 mponent to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride 
 along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessm
 ents must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  Yo
 u will receive more information on the clinical component during the class
 .\n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to si
 t for the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\,
  as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This tes
 t will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center. 
  If seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will not need to 
 complete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pass 
 practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certifi
 cation process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West 
 Virginia at the conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS
  requires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee
  for fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will receive directions
  on that process during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is 
 required. Due to COVID 19 safety best practices\, face masks will be requi
 red for all classes\, and class size is limited to 15 students.  Absence 
 allowance is 10% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed cl
 asses will be at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterested pe
