SUMMARY:EMT Initial - Canaan Valley
DESCRIPTION:This approximately 155-hour course is being conducted at Canaan
  Valley VFD in Davis\, WV (Tucker County).  The course will begin April 2
 \, 2026 at 6:00pm.  Class will meet on the following dates: April 2\, 3\,
  7\, 9\, 13\, 14\, 16\, 20\, 21\, 23\, 27\; May 4\, 6\, 8\, 11\, 12\, 13\,
  14\, 15\, 18\, 19\, 20\, 26\, 27\, 28\, 29\; June 2\, 4\, 5\, 9\, 11\, 15
 \, 16\, 18\, 22\, 23\, 24\, 25\, 2026.  Practical skills testing date TBD
 .  Class times will be 6:00pm - 10:00pm unless directed otherwise by the 
 course instructor.  The lead instructor for the course is Josh Tompkins.
   Students MUST bring a laptop or tablet to the first class session on Ap
 ril 2\, 2026.  Students must have access to a computer outside of the cla
 ssroom\, reliable internet\, and be self motivated to complete assignments
  and spend time studying outside of formal class hours.\n\n The course re
 quires a clinical component to be completed outside of class hours during 
 which you will ride along with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assess
 ments. These assessments must be completed in order to obtain WV certifica
 tion as an EMT.  You will receive more information on the clinical compon
 ent during the class.\n\nUpon successful completion of course requirements
 \, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs exam
 \, with the initial exam attempt being included within the course tuition.
   This test will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testin
 g center.  If seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will n
 ot need to complete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply ne
 ed to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with 
 the certification process in your desired state.\n\nAbsence allowance is 1
 0% of the total class hours = 15 hours. Make up of missed classes will be 
 at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nCourse fee is $650 and incl
 udes: tuition\, textbook\, access to EMS testing program\, and 1st attempt
  NREMT exam voucher (upon successful completion of course requirements). 
  State of WV licensing fees are separate and are the responsibility of the
  student if seeking WV certification.  Course fees\, or an authorization 
 to invoice agency form (can be obtained from the WVPST Clarksburg office)\
 , are due by the first class session.\n\nPre- registration for this class 
 is required.\n\nTo register please print and fill out the course applicati
 on below\, and submit with a $50 application fee (will be counted towards 
 total course fees) to the WVPST Clarksburg office.  This can be paid via
