If you ar e a self-motivated\, goal oriented student who enjoys being challenged\, t hen this is a great educational opportunity. If you are looking for an eas y route to EMT Certification\, then this course is NOT for you.  Students must have a personal e-mail account\, computer\, and high speed internet access.\n\nThe in person class meetings will be held at Valley VFD (Marion County) on the following dates: September 26\; October 3\, 24\; November 7\, 28\; and December 5\, 19\, 20\, 2020.  These in person sessions will begin at 8:30am and run to 4:30pm.  The course instructor is Chris Battlo .  Some in person video conferencing meetings may be scheduled at the dis cretion of the instructor and/or upon the request of students.\n\nThe tuit ion fee\, first NREMT testing fee\, textbook\, and Navigate Learning Manag ement System access will be covered (for WV Residents only) for this class by Jobs and Hope grant funding.  Student will be responsible for WV Stat e Certification fees.\n\nIn addition to the online assignments and in pers on class sessions\, the course requires a clinical component to be complet ed outside of class hours during which you will ride along with an EMS age ncy to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must be complete d in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will receive more i nformation on the clinical component during the class.\n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit for the National Re gistry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This test will be scheduled a t your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If seeking certifica tion in a state other than WV\, you will not need to complete the WV certi fication process/fees\, and will simply need to pass practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certification process in you r desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virginia at the concl usion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS requires a $75 fee f or certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for fingerprinting/c riminal background check. You will receive directions on that process duri ng the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is required.
