SUMMARY:Blended Learning Initial EMT - Randolph County
DESCRIPTION:Public Service Training – Clarksburg will be conducting a ble
 nded learning course for initial Emergency Medical Technician\, starting 9
 /18/2021.  This blended – learning Emergency Medical Technician course 
 will cover the content and skills necessary for students to sit for the pr
 actical skills and cognitive examinations for EMT certification. If you ar
 e a self-motivated\, goal oriented student who enjoys being challenged\, t
 hen this is a great educational opportunity. If you are looking for an eas
 y route to EMT Certification\, then this course is NOT for you.  Students
  must have a personal e-mail account\, computer\, and high speed internet 
 access.\n\nThe in person class meetings will be held at Randolph County EM
 S Station 1 in Elkins\, WV (Randolph County) on the following dates: Septe
 mber 18\; October 2\, 23\; November 6\, 20\; and December 4\, 18\, 19\, 20
 21.  These in person sessions will begin at 9:00am and run to 5:00pm.  T
 he course instructor is Heather Brown.\n\nThe textbook\, Navigate Learning
  Management System access\, FISDAP entrance and exit exams\, and first NRE
 MT testing fee will be covered (for WV Residents only) for this class by W
 V Jobs and Hope grant funding.  Student will be responsible for course tu
 ition fee of $300 (payable at the first class session by check or money or
 der to MSESC\, cash\, or online credit card payment) and WV State Certific
 ation fees (separate from WVPST fees).\n\nIn addition to the online assign
 ments and in person class sessions\, the course requires a clinical compon
 ent to be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride alon
 g with an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments
  must be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You wi
 ll receive more information on the clinical component during the class.\n\
 nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to sit fo
 r the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\, as 
 mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This test wi
 ll be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.  If 
 seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will not need to comp
 lete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pass prac
 tical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certificati
 on process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in West Virg
 inia at the conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of EMS req
 uires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 fee for
  fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will receive directions on 
 that process during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class is requ
 ired. Class size is limited to 15 students.  Absence allowance is 10% of 
 the total in person class hours.  Make up of missed classes will be at th
 e discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterested persons should regist
