SUMMARY:Blended Learning Initial EMT - Harrison County
DESCRIPTION:Public Service Training – Clarksburg will be conducting a ble
 nded learning course for initial Emergency Medical Technician\, starting 5
 /8/2022.  This blended learning Emergency Medical Technician course will 
 cover the content and skills necessary for students to sit for the practic
 al skills and cognitive examinations for EMT certification. If you are a s
 elf-motivated\, goal oriented student who enjoys being challenged\, then t
 his is a great educational opportunity. If you are looking for an easy rou
 te to EMT Certification\, then this course is NOT for you.  Students must
  have a personal e-mail account\, computer\, and high speed internet acces
 s.\n\nThe in person class meetings will be held at United Technical Center
 \, Clarksburg\, WV (Harrison County) on the following dates: May 8\, May 2
 1\, June 4\, June 19\, July 3\, and July 23.  These in person sessions wi
 ll begin at 8:00am and run to 6:00pm.  There will also be a mandatory vir
 tual course meeting on June 20\, 2022 from 6pm - 10pm.   The course inst
 ructor is Josh Tompkins.\n\nThe textbook\, Navigate Learning Management Sy
 stem access\, EMS Testing program access\, and first NREMT testing fee are
  all included in the course tuition fee of $800.  In order to secure a se
 at in this class\, students must register for the course and submit tuitio
 n payment via check or money order (payable to Mountain State ESC) to:\n\n

 to the first class session.  If you are a member of a department that wil
 l be paying the tuition\, contact brian.potter@wvesc.org to obtain a copy 
 of an authorization to invoice form that must then be returned to the WVPS
 T office to secure your seat.  \n\nIn addition to the online assignments
  and in person class sessions\, the course requires a clinical component t
 o be completed outside of class hours during which you will ride along wit
 h an EMS agency to complete 10 patient assessments. These assessments must
  be completed in order to obtain WV certification as an EMT.  You will re
 ceive more information on the clinical component at the first class sessio
 n.\n\nUpon successful completion of the course\, you will be eligible to s
 it for the National Registry of EMTs exam\, with the initial exam attempt\
 , as mentioned above\, being included within the course tuition.  This te
 st will be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson Vue testing center.
   If seeking certification in a state other than WV\, you will not need t
 o complete the WV certification process/fees\, and will simply need to pas
 s practical testing and NREMT examination before proceeding with the certi
 fication process in your desired state.\n\nIf seeking certification in Wes
 t Virginia at the conclusion of the course\, the West Virginia Office of E
 MS requires a $75 fee for certification which is paid online\, and a $45 f
 ee for fingerprinting/criminal background check. You will receive directio
 ns on that process during the class.\n\nPre- registration for this class i
 s required.  Class size is limited to 15 students.  Absence allowance is
  10% of the total in person class hours.  Make up of missed classes will 
 be at the discretion of the course instructor.\n\nInterested persons shoul

 ured upon receipt of the course tuition or an authorization to invoice for
