 an integral component of an organization’s incident response planning. B
 ecause active shooter incidents are unpredictable and evolve quickly\, pre
 paring for and knowing what to do in an active shooter situation can be th

 ning Opportunity\n\nCabell/Wayne LEPC\, St. Mary's Medical Center\, the We
 st Virginia Public Service Training -WVDE\, Mountain State Educational Ser
 vices Cooperative and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are hosting
  a one-day workshop to enhance preparedness against active shooter inciden
 ts through:\n\n 	Developing an Emergency Action Plan with guidance from ex
 pert instructors\n 	Identifying strengths\, weaknesses\, and gaps in physi
 cal security and planning considerations via break-out sessions\n 	Learnin
 g how to prevent active shooter incidents by recognizing behavioral indica
 tors on the pathway to violence\n 	Understanding the history of significan
 t active shooter incidents through survivor stories and expert perspective
 s\n\nEnhancing Emergency Planning\nThe workshop will describe how to incor
 porate key elements of successful incident management into planning effort
 s\, such as:\n\n 	Developing communication and incident plans for employee
 s\n 	Building relationships with local first responders\n 	Coordinating wi
 th first responders before\, during\, and after an incident\n 	Integrating
